“The X Factor Philippines” finalists Daddy’s Home defended controversial contestant Kedebon Colim, who has been a target of ridicule on social media during his stay on the ABS-CBN talent search.

Daddy’s Home survived elimination last Sunday after judge-mentors chose to vote out Kedebon instead.

In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com on Tuesday, the group’s members said Kedebon doesn’t deserve the constant criticism from netizens.

“Kahit kami nasasaktan na kapag nababasa namin ‘yung sinasabi sa kanya. Kasi kilala namin siya bilang tao. Parang anak namin siya, kami ‘yung (parang guardians),” group member Allan Silonga said.

“Okay lang ‘yung matuwa sila noong natanggal si Kedebon pero para siraan at alipustahin mo pa si Kedebon, hindi na tama kasi unang una hindi niya kasalanan ‘yan,” Ebet Silonga added.

The other members of the group are Jerome Icatar and Dr. Eric Dacanay.

Meanwhile, the group’s members admitted that they still can’t believe that are still on “The X Factor” despite competing with younger contestants.

“Hanggang ngayon kumakapit kami sa will ni Lord. Sa edad namin na makipag-compete sa mga bata hindi namin aakalain na makakaabot kami dito,” Silonga said.

“Sa totoo lang si Lord lang ang kinakapitan namin dahil wala naman kaming resources para iboto ang sarili. At kaibahan doon sila mga bata, at kami bilang magulang, ay hindi lang boto ang pinoproblema namin, ‘yung pamilya namin kung ano ang kakainin. Dalawa problema namin — ‘yung competition at family namin ‘yung responsibilities namin,” he added.

With their experience last Sunday, Daddy’s Home has accepted the possibility that they might not win the title.

Like the other finalists, they agreed that their biggest rival in the competition is KZ Tandingan.

They also thanked their supporters and appealed to them to help them till the end.

“Nakapasok kami sa Top 5. Two weeks to go na lang so sana ‘yung mga naniniwala sa amin ay patuloy na bumoto at kung kaya pa nilang  doblihin ang effort kung talagang gusto nila kaming mag-stay sa competition kasi voting ang nagde-determine kung sino ang magi-stay at aalis,” Silonga added.

“Pinapangako po namin na ‘yung musika namin ay gagawin naming instrumento para ang araw-araw niyong pamumuhay ay iba habang pinapakinggan niyo ang musika namin. Pipilitin po namin na magkaroon ng album. Hindi pwedeng hindi at for sure pagbubuhusan namin ‘yon ng buong puso at isipin,” he added.

Aside from the album, the group is also planning to have series of shows.
